soaproot Soaproot was used to wash baskets. There is a bulb at the end that was pounded and that gives the soapy substance. The root is a tough, stringy fiber; it was folded over and tied, and then used as a comb or brush. Edna said you couldn't use it with warm water, though, as it gets gummy - you have to use cold water. | |
